The spiritual and administrative center of the Bahá'í Faith is permanently established in the twin cities of ‘Akká and Haifa.

The final resting places of Bahá’u’lláh, the Prophet-Founder is in ‘Akká, and the Báb, the Herald Prophet is in Haifa. Together they constitute the spiritual focal point for Bahá'ís around the world. The surrounding gardens are designed  to beautify the surroundings of the Shrines and provide a fitting way of approaching them.

Bahá’u’lláh designated the slopes of Mount Carmel as the Seat of the Bahá’í administration. From there, the international governing body of the Bahá’í community, the Universal House of Justice, guides and supports the activities of this worldwide religious community.

More than 600 Bahá’í volunteers from over 70 countries work with over 150 local employees from the diverse mosaic of Israeli society to carry out the important functions of the Bahá’í World Centre.

The construction and operation of the Bahá’í World Centre are funded entirely and exclusively by the voluntary contributions from the Bahá’ís around the world.
